Why We Wait Until 10–14 Weeks to Send Puppies Home

Why our Goberdoodle puppies stay with us longer than most—and how it helps them grow into confident, well-adjusted companions.

At our program, we take pride in raising not only healthy puppies, but also confident and well-prepared companions. That’s why our Goberdoodle puppies go home between 10–14 weeks of age, instead of the typical 8 weeks that some breeders use.

Why the Extra Time Matters

These additional weeks make a big difference in your puppy’s future:

  • Stronger social skills — extended time with littermates helps puppies learn proper play, communication, and bite inhibition.

  • Psychological development — puppies gain confidence and resilience during this sensitive stage of growth.

  • Smoother transitions — slightly older puppies adapt to new homes more easily and handle change with less stress.

  • Well-adjusted personalities — careful socialization, exposure, and training during weeks 8–13 helps set the stage for a calmer, more balanced adult dog.

We believe waiting just a little longer gives our Goberdoodles the best possible start. By the time they go home, they are not only healthy but also confident, social, and ready to bond deeply with their new families
